How is a catheter fitted?

333 views  October 21, 2019

Catheters are fitted by qualified health professionals trained in their use. For indwelling urinary catheters, this is done by inserting the sterile catheter tube into the patient’s urethra. In the case of suprapubic catheters, the tube would be inserted through an incision made in the patient’s abdomen. Patients are generally taught how to correctly and safely use intermittent urinary catheters themselves.
